Looking for a character AI alternative?

oeYYeo is a website where adults chat with five original anime-style characters, each written for this site with a job, a world and a voice of their own. Every character is AI, and the app says so. Chat with the whole cast is free in your browser, with no install. The oeYYeo plan is $9.99 a month and adds voice calls with every character.

Updated

What oeYYeo is, in plain terms

oeYYeo is a small, written cast. There are five characters, one for each of five anime genres, and each one was built from the ground up for this site: a name, an age, a job, a place they work and a way of talking. You pick one of five and start talking.

Every character is an original. None is borrowed from an existing show, comic or game, and none is based on anyone real. Every character is an adult in their mid twenties with adult work: a guild master, a test pilot, a cafe owner, a night-shift spirit medium and a reigning duel champion.

Characters stay in character. Ask one to drop the act and they keep being themselves, the way a good actor stays in the scene. Replies arrive as they are written, word by word, so the conversation moves at the pace of someone thinking out loud.

Who oeYYeo is for, and who it is not for

oeYYeo is for adults 18 and over who like characters with a point of view. It suits you if you want a story partner with a world already built, banter with someone who has opinions, or a quiet talk at the end of a long day with someone who has a cup of something ready.

It is honest about its edges, so you can decide quickly whether it fits.

  • Adults only. We ask for a year of birth once, before the first message.
  • Originals only. If you are looking to talk to a character from a show you love, this is not that place.
  • Light, playful flirting between adults is fine. Anything sexual is refused, in character.
  • No medical, legal or financial advice, and no gore or real-world harm instructions.
  • Not a crisis service. If you are in real distress, the character steps out of the story and points you to real help (988 in the US).

Meet the five characters

Each member of the cast lives in a different genre, so the five conversations feel nothing alike. Start with whichever world you want to stand in tonight.

  • Ingeborg Talvane, 26, fantasy. Master of the Lantern Road Adventurers' Guild at the edge of a monster-haunted forest. Warm command voice, quest-board language, a laugh that fills the hall.
  • Anselm Kovacic, 25, mecha. Lead test pilot for heavy salvage frames at an orbital shipyard. Radio-clipped, reads the preflight checklist out loud, and goes suddenly honest when it counts.
  • Mireya Castellan, 24, slice of life. Runs The Awning, a tiny rooftop cafe, and plays cello for whoever stays late. Soft, seasonal, full of small details.
  • Odalys Venn, 26, urban fantasy. A spirit medium on the night shift at the subway's lost property office, where the lost property is sometimes a ghost. Low, steady, gently funny.
  • Tobiah Ashcombe, 26, tournament. Three seasons undefeated in the Skyring duels, and he trains challengers to beat him. Short, sharp, praise that lands like a strike.

What is free, and what the $9.99 plan adds

You can find out whether oeYYeo suits you without paying anything. Free chat covers the whole cast. The paid plan exists for people who want to hear a character's voice, or who talk long enough in a day to want full-quality replies the whole way through.

  • Free: chat with all five characters. Full-quality replies for your first 100 messages a day, simpler replies after that. No call minutes.
  • The oeYYeo plan, $9.99 a month: voice calls with every character, up to 240 minutes a month, and full-quality replies all day.
  • Cancel any time.
  • Runs in a web browser on a phone or a computer. Nothing to install.

What to weigh before you switch

A ranked list cannot tell you what you care about. These questions can. Here is how oeYYeo answers each one, so you can tell quickly whether it fits what you are looking for.

On safety, the short version: every character is AI and the app says so, chat is for adults 18 and over, and every character's page has a Report button that a person reads. The safety guide covers the rest.

  • Do you want a written cast or a blank page? Here you get both: five characters written for the site, and /create, where members write an original adult character of their own.
  • Do you want characters from shows you already know? Then this is not the place. oeYYeo is originals only.
  • Do you want to talk out loud? Voice calls are on the paid plan only. Free has no call minutes.
  • Where does it run? In a web browser, on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install.
  • Who can see a character you write? Only you, or only the people you send its link to. Member characters are never listed in browse or search.

Can you write your own character?

Yes, if you are a member. At /create you can write an original adult character of your own: a name, a genre, who they are, a voice, and boundaries that are always on. You can give them a portrait drawn for you, or upload your own picture of an adult.

You choose whether to share your character by link or keep them private. Member characters are never listed in browse or search, and saving runs a safety check first. The same rules that bind the cast bind what members write: originals only, adults only.

In their own words

First time up the stairs? Take the window seat. Tell me what kind of evening you came looking for, and I'll tell you what's on the counter.
Mireya Castellan, Slice of life: the rooftop cafe
Most people who find this office were looking for somewhere else first. That's all right. Sit. Lost things have a way of turning up here.
Odalys Venn, Urban fantasy: the spirit medium

Meet them

Mireya Castellan, a woman in her mid twenties with warm brown skin, freckles and dark curls held up with a pencil, in a linen shirt and sage green apron on a rooftop cafe strung with lights.

Slice of life: the rooftop cafe

Mireya Castellan, 24

A rooftop cafe, open from the first rain to the last train. The cello comes out after 10 PM.

Odalys Venn, a woman in her mid twenties with a calm, steady face, dark circles from night shifts and a single white streak in black hair worn in a low knot, in a long deep green transit coat with brass buttons, holding a brass lantern that burns blue in a tiled subway office.

Urban fantasy: the spirit medium

Odalys Venn, 26

Last train, platform zero. She helps the ones who missed their stop find it.
