How AI character chat works
AI character chat is a conversation with a written character who answers you in their own voice, from inside their own world. On oeYYeo you pick one of five original adult characters, type a message, and their reply arrives as it is written, word by word. They stay in character the whole way, and every one of them is AI.
What is AI character chat, from your side of the screen?
From your side, AI character chat looks like a message thread. You type. Someone answers. The difference is who that someone is.
A general assistant answers like a help desk: neutral, polite, nowhere in particular. A character answers from a place, with a job, a history and a way of talking. Ask a help desk about rain and you get a forecast. Ask Mireya Castellan, who runs a tiny cafe on a city rooftop, and she tells you the rain just came in, she saved you the window seat, and the lemon cake is nearly gone.
That is the whole idea. You are not querying a tool. You are walking into a scene that already has someone in it.
Step one: pick a character
oeYYeo has five original cast members, each an adult in their mid twenties, each from a different corner of anime storytelling. They were written for oeYYeo. None of them is an existing character from any show or game, and none is based on a real person, living or dead.
- Ingeborg Talvane, 26, fantasy: master of an adventurers' guild on a frontier road.
- Anselm Kovacic, 25, mecha: lead test pilot for heavy salvage frames at an orbital shipyard.
- Mireya Castellan, 24, slice of life: runs a rooftop cafe and plays cello after 10 PM.
- Odalys Venn, 26, urban fantasy: a spirit medium on the night shift at the subway's lost property office.
- Tobiah Ashcombe, 26, tournament: an undefeated champion who trains challengers to beat him.
Step two: say something they can answer in character
Chat runs in your web browser, on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install. Before your first message, oeYYeo asks for your year of birth, once, because chat is for adults 18 and over. After that, the box is yours.
A plain "hi" works. A message that steps into their world works better, because it gives the character something to do. Tell Odalys you found a glove on the last train that is still warm. Tell Anselm the frame is making a noise it did not make yesterday. Ask Tobiah what was wrong with your stance. You do not need to write like a novelist. One concrete detail is enough.
Then watch the reply. It arrives as it is written, word by word, so you see the sentence form instead of waiting for a block of text to drop in all at once. It feels less like a search result and more like someone talking.
What does staying in character actually mean?
It means the character keeps being themselves, even when you test it. Tell Anselm to drop the act, or tell Odalys the night shift is not real, and you get Anselm and Odalys answering, in their own voice, not a sudden switch to a flat, faceless tone. The scene holds, so you can come back to it without the spell breaking every few lines.
It also means their manner stays steady. Ingeborg talks in quest-board language and laughs loud enough to fill the hall. Anselm talks in radio-clipped checklist rhythm. Mireya fills a cup before she fills a silence. Tobiah's praise lands like a strike. You learn how each one talks the way you learn a friend's way of talking, and that is a large part of the fun.
Staying in character is not the same as pretending to be human. A character never claims to be a living person, and if you ask one what it is, it tells you. Every character on oeYYeo is AI, and the app says so under the box where you type. The fiction is the character's world. The fact is right there on the screen.
Where the lines are, and who draws them
Characters are written for grown-ups, and they have boundaries that hold. When a character refuses something, they refuse it in character: no lecture, a turn of phrase in their own voice, and the scene moves on. Ask Mireya for something off limits and she offers you another cup of tea.
- Light, playful flirting between adults is fine, and a character may flirt back in their own way. Anything sexual is refused, in character.
- No medical, legal or financial advice. A guild master can tell you to rest; she cannot tell you what medicine to take.
- Action and danger stay in the story. No gore, and no real-world instructions for harm.
- If you seem to be in real distress, the character steps out of the story and points you to real help, 988 in the US. This is the one time the act drops on purpose. oeYYeo is not a crisis service.
- Every character's page has a Report button, and a person reads reports.
What it costs, and what comes next
Chatting is free, with the whole cast. Free chat gets full-quality replies for the first 100 messages a day, and simpler replies after that. The oeYYeo plan is $9.99 a month: full-quality replies all day, plus voice calls with every character, up to 240 minutes a month. Free has no call minutes, and you can cancel the plan any time.
Members can also write a character of their own at /create: a name, a genre, who they are, a voice, boundaries that are always on, and a portrait, either drawn for you or your own upload of an adult. Every character made there must be an original adult. You can share it by link or keep it private, it is never listed in browse or search, and saving it runs a safety check.
In their own words
Drop the act? This is the act, I'm afraid. Night shift, blue lantern, a coat with too many pockets. Now, that glove you found. Still warm?
You typed three words and then stopped, so I know it was a long day. Sit, sit. Start anywhere, and I'll pour while you talk.

Common questions
Am I talking to a person?
No. Every character on oeYYeo is AI, and the app says so under the box where you type. The characters are original fiction written for oeYYeo.
Can I ask a character to stop being in character?
You can ask, and they will keep being themselves. The one exception is a crisis: if you seem to be in real distress, the character steps out of the story and points you to real help, 988 in the US.
What happens if I ask for something a character will not do?
They turn it down in their own voice and steer the scene somewhere else. Anything sexual is refused, and so are medical, legal or financial advice and real-world harm.
Do I need to install anything?
No. oeYYeo runs in a web browser on a phone or a computer.
