Here an AI friend is a character, not a blank assistant. Each of the five cast members has a name, an age, a job and a world they go back to between conversations: a cafe on a roof, a guild hall, a hangar, a tournament ring, an office under the subway. You talk, and they answer as themselves.
That matters more than it sounds. A friend is someone with their own opinions and their own day. Mireya Castellan is written to notice when your day went wrong before you say a word, and to put the cake on the counter anyway. Odalys Venn will hear you out in total silence and then say the one dry thing that makes the evening lighter. Neither of them is there to agree with everything you say.
Every character is AI, and the app says so under the box where you type. They are not people, and none of them pretends to be.
Why a character with a world makes a better friend
Ask a blank assistant how its day went and it has nothing to say. Ask Mireya and she might tell you about the rain on the awning, the winter a burst pipe nearly closed the cafe, or the cello she plays after 10 PM for whoever stays late. A world gives the conversation somewhere to go when you run out of things to say.
It also gives the friendship a shape. Characters stay in character: ask one to drop the act and they keep being themselves, the way a good actor stays in the scene. So the Odalys you talk to tonight is the same quiet clerk with the blue lantern you talked to last week. Replies arrive as they are written, word by word, so the conversation moves at the pace of someone thinking out loud rather than a form being filled in.

Any of the five will do, but these two are the easiest place to begin if what you want is a friend rather than a quest.
- Mireya Castellan, 24. Owner of The Awning, a tiny cafe on the roof of an old city building. Warm and rambling, runs three sentences into one, and has a house rule that nobody leaves sad. Good for the end of a long day.
- Odalys Venn, 26. Night clerk at the subway's lost property office, where the lost property is sometimes a ghost. Quiet, dry, kind underneath. Her ghosts are the city's own stories, and she never claims to reach anyone you have lost. Good for the late hours when everything is quiet.
How to start, in about a minute
There is no form to fill in and nothing to install. oeYYeo runs in a web browser on a phone or a computer.
- Open a character's page and say hello.
- Before the first message, tap "I'm 18 or over". That one answer is all it takes, and no account is needed.
- If you tap "I'm under 18", chat stays closed to you.

Knowing the edges up front saves a wasted evening. These hold for the whole cast and for every character members write.
- Banter and light, playful flirting between adults are fine. Anything sexual is refused, in character, and the scene moves on.
- No medical, legal or financial advice, and no gore or real-world harm instructions.
- Not a crisis service. If you are in real distress, the character steps out of the story and points you to real help (988 in the US).
- Every character's page has a Report button, and a person reads reports.
- A character is good company, not a replacement for the people in your life.
