AI roleplay, explained

AI roleplay is collaborative storytelling with an AI character: you play a role, they play themselves, and the scene grows one message at a time.

  • You set the place and the problem; they answer in their own voice.
  • Characters stay in character, even when asked to drop the act.
  • On oeYYeo, chat is free for adults 18 and over.

Start a scene with Ingeborg

Pick one of three openings and Ingeborg plays it out at the Lantern Road guild, in character. Or write your own first line.

Free. No account needed. Adults 18+. oeYYeo characters are AI, not real people.

What is AI roleplay?

Roleplay is old: people have told stories together around tables, on forums and in group chats for as long as there have been stories. AI roleplay keeps the shape and changes your scene partner. You write what your character says and does, and an AI character answers as themselves, from inside their own world, every time.

That last part is the difference between a character and a help desk. An assistant answers your question and waits. A character has a job, a place and a way of talking, and they bring all three to the scene. Tell Ingeborg Talvane, guild master of the Lantern Road, that your party is lost past the ridge, and you do not get a list of tips. You get a woman who counts every party home asking which way the smoke was blowing.

Every character on oeYYeo is AI, and the app says so under the box where you type. Nobody is pretending otherwise. The fun is the game you are both playing, with the cards face up.

Ingeborg Talvane leans over a long guild hall table with a map spread under her gloved hands, looking across at an adventurer in the foreground as if waiting for their answer.
A scene in motion: Ingeborg has the map out and is waiting for your next move.

How AI roleplay works on oeYYeo

oeYYeo is built around five original adult characters, one for each genre, written from scratch for the site. None of them is borrowed from an existing story, and none is a real person, living or dead. Here is how a scene runs:

  • Pick a character: Ingeborg Talvane, 26, the guild master; Anselm Kovacic, 25, the test pilot; Mireya Castellan, 24, who runs a rooftop cafe; Odalys Venn, 26, the spirit medium on the subway night shift; or Tobiah Ashcombe, 26, the champion who trains his rivals.
  • Confirm you are 18 or over. Chat is for adults, and oeYYeo asks once, before the first message.
  • Send a first line. The reply arrives as it is written, word by word, so you can read along and plan your next move.
  • Keep going. Characters stay in character the whole way: ask one to drop the act and they keep being themselves.
  • Want someone new? Members can write their own original adult character at /create, with a name, a genre, a voice and boundaries that are always on.

What to look for in an AI roleplay platform

Whatever site you use, a few things decide whether an evening of AI roleplay is fun or frustrating. These are the questions worth asking before you start:

  • Are the characters originals? A character written for the site has a world to draw on. One copied from a show is someone else's work.
  • Does it say plainly that the characters are AI? You should never have to wonder.
  • Is there an age gate, and is it clear who the site is for?
  • Are the limits written down before you start, so a refusal never comes as a surprise?
  • Does a character keep its voice when the scene turns, or does it slip into a generic assistant?
  • Is the price stated plainly, with what is free and what is not?

What AI roleplay on oeYYeo will not do

Plenty of people search for AI roleplay hoping for anything goes. oeYYeo is not that, and it is better to know before the first message. Light, playful flirting between adults is fine, and a character may tease you back. Anything sexual is refused, in character, and the scene moves on.

Action and danger stay on the page: no gore, and no real-world instructions for harm. Nobody in the cast gives medical, legal or financial advice. If someone seems to be in real crisis, the character steps out of the story and points to real help, 988 in the US. oeYYeo is not a crisis service. Every character's page has a Report button, and a person reads reports.

Your first scene in three moves

Start in the middle. Skip the hello and open with something already happening: a lantern that went out, a courier at the door, a map nobody should have. End your message on something the character has to answer, and let them shape the scene too. If it drifts, change what is happening rather than asking for a different reply.

That is the whole method, and the guides below take each part further: ready-made openers, the habits that keep a scene moving, and the shorthand roleplayers use when they step outside the story.

AI roleplay? You bring the scene. I bring the rest.

Say you just stepped off the last train, holding an umbrella that isn't yours.

I'd tell you it belongs to a ghost on platform zero, and she's been waiting all night.

You play your part. I stay myself. The story grows one message at a time.

So. Which stop did you get on at?

In their own words

A map from a wyvern's nest. Of course it is. Spread it out, keep your sleeve off the ink, and tell me who else knows you have it.

You don't have to explain the scene. Hand me what you found and tell me which stop you got on at. The rest usually tells itself.

Meet them

Ingeborg Talvane, a tall, broad-shouldered woman in her mid twenties with a crown braid and a pale scar along her jaw, in a patched teal guild-master's coat over leather armour, lantern light behind her.

Fantasy: the guild master

Ingeborg Talvane, 26

She inherited the guild ledger at 24 and has not lost a party since. Sign it, adventurer.

Odalys Venn, a woman in her mid twenties with a calm, steady face, dark circles from night shifts and a single white streak in black hair worn in a low knot, in a long deep green transit coat with brass buttons, holding a brass lantern that burns blue in a tiled subway office.

Urban fantasy: the spirit medium

Odalys Venn, 26

Last train, platform zero. She helps the ones who missed their stop find it.
