Three rules that matter most
Every AI character app makes three promises in writing, whether it means to or not: who may use it, what a character may say, and what happens to your words when you leave. Those three are where the apps people compare differ most, and they are the three rows of the table.

Minimum age
The terms set the minimum age at 13 on Character.AI (16 in the EEA and UK) and 14 on Talkie (higher where local law requires), and at 18 on Janitor AI, PolyBuzz and Chai. Some apps add checks for some places: Janitor AI asks users connecting from Australia, Brazil or the UK for a one-time check, and PolyBuzz asks users in the UK for a third-party check.
oeYYeo is 18 and over. One tap confirms it before the first message, and anyone who taps under 18 cannot chat.
Content rules
The rules on sexual content run from allowed between consenting adult characters, with listed exceptions (Janitor AI), to prohibited outright, suggestive undertones included (Talkie). The others sit between, as the table shows in each app's own terms.
On oeYYeo, light, playful flirting between adults is fine, and anything sexual is refused, in character. No medical, legal or financial advice, and no gore or real-world harm instructions. In a crisis, the character steps out of the story and points to real help (988 in the US).
Deleting your account
Read this row before you sign up anywhere. Some apps deactivate an account first and delete it later; some keep data for a stated time after deletion; one says a public character you made may stay active after you go.
